Chesapeake approves light rail study

Chesapeake votes to fund light rail study

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday night to fund a light rail study in Chesapeake.

The resolution passed 9 to nothing. The decision is to support a transportation study that will look into whether a light rail line from Norfolk to Greenbrier is possible.

Council also voted to include the expansion of mass transit in the city — that could include bus service.
