NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk woman was sentenced Monday for producing child pornography and obstructing justice.

U.S. District Judge Robert G. Doumar sentenced 23-year-old Sierra Danyelle Halsey to 15 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, according to Deanna Warren with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Warren said court documents reveal Halsey entered into a conspiracy after she was contacted by Robert Harold Scott, Jr. under a fake, online identity.

“Scott would routinely communicate with women in and around the Tidewater area to set up ‘sex parties,’ where the women would work as prostitutes and Scott would pay them for their services,” Warren said. “In reality, Scott would not pay them and sometimes would extort the women by threatening to publish sexually explicit videos.”

Scott also was found to be conspiring with and producing child pornography with several different women, including Halsey.

Halsey also obstructed justice by deleting electronic evidence at the behest of Scott after he was arrested in the Fall of 2013.

Halsey pleaded guilty to the charges in May. Scott is scheduled to be sentenced in Norfolk on Nov. 17.
