(WAVY) – A severe thunderstorm watch for much of southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina expired early Monday evening.
Super Doppler 10 Meteorologist Tiffany Savona said showers and storms are still possible overnight. Heavy rain will be the main threat.
The following areas were included in the severe thunderstorm watch, which was supposed to expire at 7 p.m.:
- Charles City
- Isle of Wight
- James City
- City of Chesapeake
- City of Newport News
- City of Norfolk
- City of Suffolk
- City of Virginia Beach
Several severe thunderstorm warnings expired earlier Monday for parts of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. If you are in an area impacted by a severe thunderstorm warning, take shelter indoors and away from windows.
