Community bike rides start in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Sunday nights are now reserved for bicyclists in downtown Elizabeth City.

The Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Parks and Recreation Department kicks off the Evening Community Bike Rides this weekend. Officials tell us portions of the downtown area will be blocked off to drivers.

And Sunday’s event is free.

“This is a place where people come to meet each other. To meet their neighbors, to have a good time, and it doesn’t cost a cent to come and do this activity,” said Bobbi White with the parks and recreation department.

Bikers of all ages can enjoy the paved roads to themselves as well as learn more about bike safety.
