NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Areas on the Eastern Shore experienced flooding Tuesday — the effect of a night of strong storms hovering nearby.
A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 8:15 p.m. for Northampton County. A flash flood warning remained in effect for Northampton until 10 p.m., and some residents in Cape Charles sent WAVY.com pictures of the flooding (view in the photo gallery below).
Super Doppler 10 Meteorologist Tiffany Savona said a lot of the storm activity stayed over the Chesapeake Bay, Middle Peninsula, Peninsula, and especially the Eastern Shore. The Eastern Shore and Peninsula received a lot of heavy rain, and other areas in Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina saw scattered showers.
