Mosquito spraying scheduled for Craney Island, Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Craney Island and surrounding areas are scheduled to be sprayed for mosquitoes Tuesday.

According to the City of Portsmouth, federal properties on Craney Island will be sprayed, as well as adjacent city properties and the Churchland area.

The aerial spraying will happen between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the areas north of State Route 164, depending on the weather. If the weather does not permit aerial spraying, it will be pushed back to Wednesday.

Beekeepers are advised to keep bees covered during the hours of the spraying, and anyone with known allergies should stay inside.

The City said Portsmouth Mosquito Control will also be fogging on both Monday and Tuesday.
