VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – You may have seen videos popping up in your social media feeds recently where people dump ice on their heads. It’s called an “ice bucket challenge.”
Basically, people are challenged to dump a bucket of ice on their heads to raise awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms accepted the challenge, and shared a video on his Facebook page.
When someone nominates you for the ice bucket challenge, you have 24 hours to respond, which is what Mayor Sessoms says in his video clip. He nominated a friend and his wife.
