VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach Police say an 11-year-old girl who they were searching for overnight has been found safe.
Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department said Empress-Aziza Makonnen returned home Thursday while detectives were at her residence.
Police were searching for Empress-Aziza, who had last been seen around 4:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of Wimbledon Way in Virginia Beach, after she left home voluntarily.
Thursday morning, police said there was concern for her safety because of her age, and officers worked through the night trying to find her.
She was found safe around noon Thursday. Police did not release any additional information.
