NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Old Dominion football team has been practicing all week long as it prepares for its first season as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision and its first as a member of Conference USA.
ODU’s record-setting quarterback Taylor Heinicke enters his final season as a Monarch. Lightly recruited out of Georgia, Heinicke hopes to prove that not only he belongs at college football’s highest level, but that ODU belongs, too.
“I think from the outside looking in, if have a winning record, it’s a successful season,” Heinicke said. “Maybe making a bowl game, just showing the conference that we belong there and we competed is going to be successful for us.”
ODU opens the season August 30 at home vs. Hampton.
