PD: Man shot after suspects tried to force their way into home

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man was shot late Wednesday after suspects tried to force their way into a home in Norfolk.

Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department said the call came in just before midnight about a gunshot victim in the 1400 block of Kempsville Road. Officers responded and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police several suspects approached him while he was outside a home on Kempsveille Road, and tried to force their way into the residence. When they were unsuccessful, police said the suspects shot the man and fled the scene.

Police said there were no suspect descriptions available.
