VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health has lifted a swimming and wading advisory issued Wednesday for the farthest southern end of Sandbridge.

The advisory was issued Wednesday after health department test results showed recently that bacteria levels in the water from Sea Scape Road to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge exceed the State Water Quality Standards. Officials said the advisory did not affect the Virginia Beach resort area.

Thursday, the department said bacteria levels met state standards, and signs posted at the beach area were removed.
