NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News detectives have made an arrest after investigating a credit union robbery Wednesday afternoon.
Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said the call came in just before noon from a BayPort Credit Union located in the 400 block of Denbigh Boulevard. The suspect presented a note, implied he had a weapon, and was given an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect, 30-year-old Michael Anthony Collins, was detained by officers in the area of Lees Mill Drive and Charles Street. He was interviewed and then charged with robbery. He’s being held at the Newport News City Jail.
No injuries were reported.
