YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — It took about two and half hours for firefighters to extinguish a house fire in York County Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 1 p.m., a homeowner in the 100 block of Pelican Place alerted the York County Fire Department that a house was on fire, according to Assistant Chief Paul Long.
At the scene, firefighters found a large, two-story house with heavy smoke and fire in the roof. Crews fought the flames for about an hour and were able to bring it under control. The fire was completely extinguished and crews were able to complete and overhaul after about two and a half hours.
The homeowner was at the residence at the time the fire started, but no one was injured.
Long said the home is uninhabitable; the fire caused approximately $350,000 in structural and content damage.
Fire investigators have determined the blaze ignited in the attic area because of an electrical problem.
