DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Investigators have made an arrest in the investigation of two residential breaking and entering cases on Roanoke Island.

While investigating the incidents that happened last month, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office was able to develop a suspect. Latent evidence and interviews led investigators to 42-year-old John Tyrone Grimes of Manteo, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.

When deputies made contact with Grimes, they were able to recover a generator that was stolen during one of the break-ins.

Grimes was arrested last Wednesday for charges related to both incidents: two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of larceny. He was committed to the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
