SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Bridge Road in Suffolk is back open Monday after a gas line was secured.

Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said crews responded to a gas leak in the 2500 block of Bridge Road, at the intersection with Bennetts Pasture Road around 10 a.m. Klink said a call came in to Emergency Communications that a contractor doing work in the area had damaged a 6” gas main.

Columbia Natural Gas was called to the scene.

Klink said Bridge Road was shut down from Bennetts Pasture Road to Crittenden Road, but reopened around 11:05 a.m. once the gas line was secured.

No evacuations were required, but residents in the area were being asked to stay in their homes.
