NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An Hampton Roads Transit bus and another vehicle crashed in Norfolk Monday evening.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Robin Hood Road and Military Highway, according to HRT spokesman Tom Holden.
He said the Route 15 bus was involved in the crash while nine passengers were on board. The HRT bus driver complained of back pain, following the collision, but no passengers reported injuries, Holden said. According to police, the HRT bus driver was taken to Sentara Leigh Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle, an SUV, was damaged. Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department said Tuesday the driver of the SUV was charged with following too closely. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Holden said a substitute HRT bus responded to the scene to continue service.
No further information has been released.
