CAPE CHARLES, Va. (WAVY) — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 55-year-old fisherman after he suffered a seizure off the coast of the Eastern Shore Monday.
The operator of the John S. Dempster, a fishing boat, contacted the Coast Guard around 4:15 p.m. about a crewman who was in need of medical assistance.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Station Cape Charles arrived at the scene in southern Chesapeake Bay around 4:45 p.m. At that time the boat was in the vicinity of Fisherman Island, about two miles west of the entrance to Elliots Creek.
The man was transported by boat to Kiptopeke State Park, where he was placed in the care of awaiting local EMS, just before 5 p.m.
The Coast Guard reports the man was in good condition.
