Teen, felon arrested after shots fired near Buckroe

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A teenager and a convicted felon were taken into custody Wednesday night, after police say shots were fired near Buckroe Beach.

Around 7:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Hunlac Avenue, according to Cpl. Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division.

Investigators determined a man got into a verbal altercation with a group of people and discharged multiple rounds in the air. Shackelford said no one was injured and no property was damage, but two suspects were taken into custody.

Briant Brooks Fulton, 33, of Hampton was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of stolen property, shooting across a roadway, willfully discharging a firearm in public, and reckless handling of a firearm.

A 15-year-old was also arrested. He was charged with reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Police have not said what the altercation was about.
