HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — The 31st Annual National Night Out is coming up next week, and local communities are preparing events to celebrate and say “NO” to crime.

Communities across the country will hold events next Tuesday to help strengthen police-community relationships and emphasize anti-crime efforts. All events are free and open to the public, even if they are in a neighborhood you don’t live in.

In Suffolk, the evening will start with a Community Kick-off Ceremony at the Suffolk Visitor Center Pavilion on North Main Street. The city will hold more than 40 events — click here for more info.

In Virginia Beach, most events will begin around 6 p.m. The following neighborhoods are participating:

Appomattox Village/Courthouse Estates, Christopher Farms, Hunt Club Forrest, Landstown Lakes, Ocean Lakes, Reflections Apartments, Strawbridge, Tivoli Apartments, Croatan, Great Neck Meadows, KOA Campground, Linkhorn Cove, Bellamy Plantation, Lake Edward, Kempsville Lake, Lake Shores, Abingdon Village, Lake Christopher, Larkspur, Stratford Chase and Greenrun/Chimney Hill.
