NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police in Newport News say a tip led to an arrest in a series of bank robberies, dating back to March.

Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department said there were four bank robberies in Hampton, Newport News and York County between March 28 and June 13. Investigators linked one suspect to the four incidents based on witness descriptions and evidence.

McPherson said as a result of an anonymous Crime Line tip, detectives were able to obtain a robbery warrant for 51-year-old Reginald Vann Robinson for a robbery that occurred on May 27.

Law enforcement arrested Robinson Friday morning at his residence in Hampton. Robinson was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail, and McPherson says he faces similar charges in Hampton and York County.

Police said his picture is not being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
