Ocean Breeze gives service members a late Christmas

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Most people think Christmas only comes once a year, but Thursday night some military families go to celebrate in July.

It was “Operation Missed Christmas and Military Appreciation Day” at Ocean Breeze Water Park in Virginia Beach. It’s a celebration for local service members and their families, who didn’t get to spend the holidays together. Santa Claus was even out there to give gifts to the kids.

“It’s great. It’s a great opportunity to come out and get out here, and it doesn’t’ cost an arm and a leg,” said attendee Daniel Wiggs. “It’s really nice to get this opportunity to see the band and get out here to the park. Our kids love it.”

There was also a special concert by country artist Brynn Marie.
