HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Firefighters are working to determine how a fire started at a fast food restaurant in Hampton Friday.
Assistant Chief Jeff Pereira with Hampton Fire-Rescue said a 911 call came in at 12:20 p.m. about a fire in the 200 block of Foxhill Road, near Willow Oaks Boulevard. When crews arrived, the restaurant was being evacuated and smoke could be seen coming from the roof.
Pereira said the fire was contained to the vent system in the roof of the restaurant. Firefighters had to use tools to open up the roof around the vent piping to make sure the flames were extinguished.
Pereira said a building inspector was called to the scene to help make sure the fire was out.
No injuries were reported. Fire investigators are still trying to figure out what ignited the fire.
