SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police in Suffolk are asking for help finding a man who has been missing since his vehicle was found in a ditch early Thursday.
Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said 40-year-old David Christopher Gillespie, whose last known address was in Chesapeake, has not been seen since his four-door Buick was found after apparently crashing into a ditch. Klink said it crashed in a rural wooded area in the 2000 block of Lake Cohoon Road around 1 a.m.
Police stopped searching the area where Gillespie’s vehicle crashed by Thursday afternoon. Klink said that after an extensive search, authorities determined there was no indication he was still in the area.
Gillespie is described as a white man, 5’8” tall, weighing 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Klink said police have communicated with his family, who said they have not been contacted by Gillespie.
According to Klink, Gillespie is considered missing, but does not fall into a suspicious or endangered category at this time.
