NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk police pulled three people from the Elizabeth River Thursday when a barge partly sank.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. at the Colonna’s Shipyard, across the river from Harbor Park. Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department said the employees were putting a container on the barge with a crane and the crane shifted, causing part of the barge to go underwater.

Three employees swam to shore and were helped by officers onto land. No one was injured.

The Coast Guard was called to the scene and said there was no pollution at the site, but 10 On Your Side did get video of crews putting out materials to soak up water.
