VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Fourteen people have been displaced following an overnight fire in the 100 block of Morrison Avenue in Virginia Beach.
According to Battalion Chief Tracy Freeman, Virginia Beach firefighters were dispatched to the home at 3:34 a.m. Thursday, and the fire was under control at 3:50 a.m.
One firefighter and two civilians suffered minor injuries in the fire, but were not transported to the hospital. A fourth civilian was transported to the hospital for observation following an anxiety attack.
Two duplex homes were affected by the fire. Eleven people were displaced from the home where the fire started and 3 people have been displaced in the second home. The Red Cross will be assisting the families.
Firefighters have determined unattended cooking caused the fire.
