Portsmouth gas station robbed at gunpoint

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Police in Portsmouth are looking for two suspects after a gas station was robbed at gunpoint overnight.

Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department said the robbery happened at a BP gas station located in the 3300 block of Victory Boulevard late Tuesday.

Detectives said two suspects approached an employee as he was locking the doors to leave for the night. Both suspects, armed with a handgun, ordered the employee to open the doors.

Inside, police said the suspects demanded that the employee open a safe and give them cash. One suspect collected money from the safe, while the other started taking cigarettes. Both then fled toward a neighborhood across the street.

The employee was not hurt during the robbery.

Police said the first suspect was described as a black male, about six feet tall, weighing between 200 and 220 pounds, wearing a white tank top and jeans. The second suspect was described as a black male, about 5’5” tall, weighing between 165 and 170 pounds. There was no clothing description provided for the second suspect.
