HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police say officers took a suicidal individual into custody Tuesday afternoon.

A large police scene formed in the 200 block of Raleigh Avenue, blocking the roadway, as police negotiators worked to coax a suicidal subject out of a residence.

Around 3:15 p.m., officers took the individual into custody and transported him to a local hospital for mental evaluation, according to a Hampton Police Division tweet.

Police say neither the individual nor any officers were injured.
