Trull went missing Sunday, and according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), she may have met an unknown man online, and could have been in his company.
The teen’s mother told 10 On Your Side Melissa had been without her seizure medication for days, and without it, she can become confused and disoriented. She said her daughter’s symptoms will get worse the longer she goes without the medication.
Shackelford told WAVY.com that Trull went to spend the night with a friend on Sunday. She was with that friend and an adult (the friend’s parent or guardian) when she got out and walked away.
Hampton Police worked with the NCMEC, FBI and local law enforcement agencies to find Melissa. Shackelford said they also deployed a bloodhound to track her scent, but didn’t get very far.
