Dog rescued from Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A dog was rescued from a house fire Sunday evening in Chesapeake.

Fire officials said they were dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. to the one-story house fire in the 1400 block of Willow Avenue. The fire was contained to the kitchen, but the home has smoke damage throughout the inside.

Nobody was injured, but a dog needed to be rescued from inside the home. The dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
