Missing 4-year-old girl from Missouri found safe in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Chesapeake police found a 4-year-old girl, who was reported missing in Missouri, safe at a hotel with her paternal grandmother Sunday morning.

According to a police spokeswoman, Chesapeake police received a call from detectives in Cuba, Missouri around 9:20 a.m. Sunday, asking them to go to the Value Place Inn at 1708 Sentinel Drive. The detectives were trying to locate a 4-year-old girl named Sabrina Omeni, who was reported missing from their city. When officers responded to the hotel they located the girl with her 60-year-old grandmother, Terry Denise Omeni.

Omeni was taken into custody by Chesapeake police on outstanding warrants for fraud from Dover, Delaware and a pending warrant from Missouri for child abduction.

Sabrina is now in the custody of Chesapeake Child Protective Services while arrangements are made to reunite her with her mother.

According to police in Cuba, Missouri, Sabrina went missing after her mother allowed her to visit Omeni from May 26 through July 21. Omeni did not return the 4-year-old on July 21, and then — according to the child’s mother — became agitated when the mother tried to contact Omeni by phone. The mother told police Omeni then changed her phone number and left the state.

Terry Omeni is being held at the Chesapeake City Jail awaiting extradition.
