VDOT: 4 roads blocked after Eastern Shore tornado

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Department of Transportation crews are assessing damage and beginning cleanup after a tornado ripped through a campground on the Eastern Shore Thursday.

While the tornado was contained to Cherrystone Campground, the severe thunderstorm that created it affected much of Northampton County. VDOT said downed trees, branches and power lines have blocked four roads.

Crews will continue to work on removing the storm debris. VDOT is also continuing to support Northampton County Emergency Management devices.

Downed trees or other hazardous road conditions may be reported by calling VDOT Customer Service at 1-800-367-ROAD (1-800-367-7623).
