VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Part of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach was covered with an oil slick after a minor spill Tuesday morning.
Dispatchers said the spill was reported by a citizen around 10 a.m. Crews were trying to contain the slick, which dispatchers said was in the area west of the Big Sam’s restaurant.
Chief Jack Crandell with the Virginia Beach Fire Department said it appeared to be a very minor sheen of oil, or some type of petroleum product. Crews have not been able to locate the source.
Crandell said the Coast Guard has been notified about the spill.
