NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Facing a blood shortage, the American Red Cross is looking for donors of all blood types.

According to a news release from the organization, donations through the Red Cross are down about eight percent over the last 11 weeks. If donations continue to decline, it could lead to an emergency situation for the Red Cross.

The news release states recent holidays and vacations resulted in fewer blood drives, and summer tends to be a challenging time for donations.
