KITTY HAWK, N.C. (WAVY) — An Elizabeth City man was arrested last week after police say he threatened to activate a bomb at a Wal-Mart in the Outer Banks.

Around 10:30 p.m. last Thursday, officers and emergency crews were called to the 5400 block of North Croatan Highway for a bomb threat at the local Wal-Mart.

Customers and employees were evacuated and the building was searched. Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson said crews determined there was no bomb, and that the threat was fake.

An investigation led officers to arrest 33-year-old Andrew L. Snowden of Elizabeth City. He was charged with making a false bomb threat to a public building, a Class H Felony. Chief Johnson said additional charges may be forth coming.
