Va. Beach man drowns at Lake Gaston

HALIFAX, N.C. (WAVY) – A 62-year-old Virginia Beach man drowned at Lake Gaston in Halifax County, N.C. Saturday.

According to a press release from Sheriff Wes Tripp, Thomas Christopher Bolye was swimming off a cove in the Eastern Shores subdivision around 5 p.m. when he drowned.

Boyle’s body was recovered by divers from the Littleton Volunteer Fire Department and Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad around 10:30 p.m. about 20 to 30 yards from a pier.

Tripp said there is no explanation on circumstances that may have caused him to drown other than an accident.
