Man arrested after police pursuit ends in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Troopers arrested a man following a police pursuit that ended when the man they were chasing crashed his car into a tree in a Suffolk neighborhood Friday night.

According to a spokesman for Virginia State Police, a State Trooper spotted a vehicle traveling around 80 mph on I-664 around 8:30 p.m.  When the Trooper attempted the stop the vehicle, the driver kept going.

The Trooper chased the suspect to Respass Beach Road in the Burbage Grant neighborhood where his car struck a tree.

The suspect suffered a minor wrist injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was released late Friday night and charged with reckless driving and felony eluding police. His name was not available Saturday afternoon.
