NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A woman in Newport News went to the hospital after multiple shots were heard in the area she was Friday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., dispatchers received a 911 call for gunshots heard in the 13200 block of Aqueduct Drive, according to Donald Watt with Newport News police.

Officers arrived and encountered a woman who lived nearby who said she thought she was shot in the foot. While police confirm she had a very minor injury to her foot — one that was not life-threatening — they can’t confirm she was struck by a bullet, Watt said. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have not been able to confirm a shooting took place, but say between two to eight gunshots were heard in the area.
