Lane reopend on I-64 West after car fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – One lane headed west on Interstate 64 in Chesapeake was blocked just east of the High Rise Bridge after a car fire.

Dispatchers told WAVY News a call about a car fire came in around 1:25 p.m. Friday.

A photo sent in to WAVY News via ReportIt shows a car engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke flowing from the vehicle.

According to Virginia Department of Transportation’s traffic page, backups were about 3 miles long as of 2 p.m. But all lanes are currently reopened.

Dispatchers said no one was hurt.
