USS Elrod heads home from last depoyment

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The USS Elrod is heading back to Norfolk, following a six-month deployment.

The Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate left Naval Station Norfolk in January for her final deployment and headed to the 6th Fleet area of operations. The crew patrolled the waters off Africa, such as the Mediterranean Sea, and worked with several African nations on maritime security.

The Elrod should pull into her Norfolk homeport on Saturday Morning.
