YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — York County deputies say they caught a dangerous fugitive Wednesday night.

Carlos Jamel Rankins was wanted by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office for brandishing a firearm, evading and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and driving without an operators license.

Because a firearm was used during his crime — which has not been detailed by the sheriff’s office — deputies considered Rankins armed and dangerous. Earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page warned citizens to not approach Rankins if they saw him.

Before his arrest Wednesday night, Rankins was last seen operating a silver 2001 Mercedes with a Virginia registration. He was said to frequent the Williamsburg area.

No further information has been released about Rankins, what he did and how he was found.
