CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking for a driver after they say a pedestrian was involved in a hit-and-run crash outside the Eagles Nest Rockin’ Country Bar early Wednesday morning.
Around 12:40 a.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of Parkview Drive for a report of a domestic-related hit-and-run crash outside the bar, according to Kelly O’Sullivan with Chesapeake police.
Witnesses told WAVY News’ Deanna LeBlanc a husband may have thrown his wife out of his car after an argument. The general manager of the bar, Dan Tracey, told WAVY News he saw an argument between the husband and wife in question.
“We heard a scream. There was a lady lying in the bushes over here talking about her husband. We stood her up to call the police department, she said ‘please don’t call the police, that’s my husband.’ At that time the vehicle came off the highway here and saw myself, my security officer, and another gentleman who came out of the bar to see what was going on, slammed his foot on the gas and tried to run us all down,” said Tracey.
Tracey and the security manager were able to get out of the way, but the third man was hit. Police said the victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police are now looking for the husband involved in the incident, and said he may be driving a black sedan.
The incident is still under investigation.
