NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — While detectives work to solve a double homicide in Norfolk, friends remember the couple who was shot and killed earlier this week.
On Monday, some time after 4:30 p.m., police found 35-year-old Najib Wallace and 30-year-old Jamie Pulley dead inside their Ocean View home. Dispatchers had received a call from a concerned citizen about something suspicious at the house.
The couple lived in the bottom unit of a house, and their 18-month-old child was found unharmed inside.
The suspect is still on the loose, and Norfolk police have still been active at the crime scene on Portview Avenue. On Wednesday, forensics investigators were still gathering evidence at the scene. Police spokesperson Officer Daniel Hudson said investigators are still interviewing witnesses. They’re also working to uncover information that will lead to a suspect.
In the meantime, people in the community are still trying to grasp what happened to Wallace and Pulley.
“Not even two weeks ago they were here,” said Tommy Posilero, who owns Mona Lisa Pizza in Ocean View.
Posilero said the couple were regulars at his restaurant. He said, sometimes they would come in two times a week. The couple was recently at Mona Lisa Pizza for a close friend’s birthday party.
Posilero said Wallace and Pulley were good people to be around. They had tons of friends in the area and had a lot of life ahead of them with their young child.
“Now it’s gone,” Posilero said. “And there are no answers. Somebody needs to come up with an answer, why this happened.”
While there is still no suspect description, police do believe the shooting was an isolated incident. If you know anything that could aid the investigation, please call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
