NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A Newport News woman has been charged in the investigation of a motorcycle fatality earlier this month.

On Wednesday, 58-year-old Sabrina Lolita Johnson of Newport News was arrested and charged with reckless driving. The charge is related to her operation of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am leading up to a crash on July 7.

Police say the Grand Am was traveling north on Jefferson Avenue when it ran a red light and struck a motorcycle that was turning left from 74th Street onto Jefferson Ave. Both the driver and motorcyclist were transported to a local hospital.

The motorcyclist, 54-year-old Francis Henry Kroll of Newport News, passed away at the hospital two days later.

No further information has been released.
