York Co. teen claims strange man approached her

York County Sheriff

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A 13-year-old in York County said she was approached by a stranger Saturday night.

The teen said it happened around 8 p.m. in the Seaford Shores subdivision while she was walking a neighbor’s dog along Raymond Drive and Kenneth Drive.

She told the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office that a man drove up in a white work van and asked if she wanted to “go someplace cool” and if she lived in the area. The teen told the man her mom was watching and walked away.

The van drove off, and deputies were unable to locate it.

The girl described the man as being a white male in his late 40’s to early 50’s with long white and brown hair, but balding on top. He was wearing a dirty white t-shirt with a dark stain around the neck.

The work van was described as being beat up with a black ladder rack, but no ladders. The victim said it had some sort of signage on the side, but she couldn’t provide a more detailed description.
