CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Shillelagh Road in Chesapeake fully reopened to traffic Wednesday morning after a cave-in a day earlier.

Police in Chesapeake said the three-foot sinkhole closed down part of Shillelagh Road in the area of the 1200 block early Tuesday.

Crews blocked the road for emergency repairs on a stormwater system cave-in repair. Officers on the scene were detouring traffic on both sides of the sinkhole.

Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said the sinkhole was two to three feet wide, and two to three feet deep.
