YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is investigating two, recent armed robberies at local Chinese take out restaurants.

On Thursday, a man walked into the Main Moon in the Farm Fresh Shopping Center across from Pops, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. Employees handed over money and the suspect left.

Deputies and investigators were called to the second robbery on Saturday night at the Hong Kong Restaurant at the Heritage Square Shopping Center, next to Big Lots. Employees said the suspect displayed a dark-colored handgun and demanded cash before fleeing the store with the money.

Investigators believe both robberies were committed by the same individual, based on the closeness of the descriptions and the method the robber used.

In both cases, the suspect was described as a white man with a thin build. He stood about 5’6″ tall and weighed between 130 and 150 pounds. At the second shooting, witnesses said he looked to be between 16 and 19 years of age.

At Main Moon, he wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black mask. At Hong Kong, he wore a dark green baseball cap, dark checkered jacket with black, red and blue stripes, dark sweatpants, black gloves and a cloth covered face.

There is currently no description of any getaway vehicle.
