NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A local hospital is at the top of a recent list.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as the number one hospital in Virginia and Hampton Roads for 2014-2015.
Two of the hospital’s programs are ranked nationally in the top 50.
“Our community-based surgeons and partners with Eastern Virginia Medical School are actively engaged as part of our care team, which elevates our programs,” Kurt Hofelich, president of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, said in a news release. “This #1 ranking in Virginia is a testament to the work our entire team does every day of the year.”
According to a news release Tuesday, the hospital is one of five voluntary Level I trauma centers in Virginia, and home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.
