Police seek man who took trash bags full of items from dollar store

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police say a man went into a Newport News dollar store, took trash bags, and filled them with items before walking out without paying.

Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department said on June 23 around 3 p.m., a man went into the Family Dollar located at 13276 Warwick Blvd. Police said the man went to the garbage bag section of the store and opened up a box of bags.

McPherson said the man then went into the refrigeration section and filled up two trash bags with grocery items, and left the story without paying.

The suspect was described as wearing a red hat, black t-shirt and denim shorts.
