NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a teenager was shot in Newport News Monday night.

A 911 call was received by dispatchers just before 9 p.m. about a shooting near the intersection of Colony Road and Warwick Boulevard.

MPO Donald Watt with Newport News police said the 17-year-old victim was walking south on Warwick Blvd. with his 15-year-old sister when they heard gunshots. He told her he had been shot and they ran to a nearby car wash.

Watt said the teen was injured in his arm and lower left back. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
