Police identify victims in Ocean View double homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police have identified the victims in a double homicide in Ocean View as 35-year-old Najib Wallace and 30-year-old Jamie Pulley.

Melinda Wray with the Norfolk Police Department said officers found Wallace and Pulley dead inside a home in the 200 block of Portview Avenue Monday after responding to a well-being check there.

Wray said a concerned citizen witnessed a suspicious situation at the residence and requested the check around 4:30 p.m. Police would not say if the concerned citizen was a neighbor or family member.

Tuesday, police said the victims’ 18-month-old child was also discovered in the home. The child was not hurt, and was released to relatives.

Neighbors said there was a lot of commotion on the street Monday after the victims were found.

“It’s just strange to see yellow tape outside,” said Shonia Gregory, who lives nearby. “Just wanting to know what’s going on, then talking to the other neighbors. And everybody wanted to walk down here and maybe get a closer look. Because it’s not just the police not knowing, it’s the neighbors not knowing either. Nobody has no idea what’s going on. It just makes you want to stay inside.”

Homicide detectives remained on the scene Tuesday, taking pictures and looking at the area of the home right inside the front door.

No further information has been released. Stay with WAVY.com for updates on this developing story.
